Perfect Waves
July was great last year, with perfect waves every weekend - Handed up on a silver platter. It made the 9 to 5 almost seem worthwhile.....

This is one of my favourite shot and shows what a bit of planning can achieve. I took some preliminary shots and sketched the layout and composition. Next was the patient wait for the right combination of low tide, to pick up the rock pools, a light west wind with good swell, and a beautiful sky with perfect sun location. Months in the planning, and as I settled in for the shot, the surfers walked into scene. Avalon at it's best.....
The waves are bigger than they look. Check the enlarged view - You can see the surfers paddling out and the guy pulling back, just under the nose of indian head.
