"There's something about Avalon" - Something spiritual. It grabs you and holds you and gets into your blood. And if you look a little deeper, it can be humbling..... |

In 1920 AJ Small purchased, subdivided and named Avalon. He established Palmgrove Park, Avalon golf course and planted the conifers and Norfolk Island Pines along the beachfront. He saw Avalon as a retreat similar to that of King Arthur at Avalon, Glastonbury, England. This magnificent tree is more than 80 years old and just across the footbridge, east of the Woolworths (Food for Less) car park. Or at least, sadly was, until March 2007 - Listen to the soundtrack ITLOA "Broken Hearts" and that will tell the story of what was a genuine historic feature and a magnificent work of art - now lost and gone forever. If you can't already hear the song you may need to download Flashplayer 9
