A solid east swell and brisk west wind worked its magic off the tip of Indian Head, North Avalon. This beautiful wave is the tail end of Avalon's 6th giant swell in as many weeks and Winter 07 is shaping up to be one of the best surf seasons in memory.

Of all the perfect waves, I've had the opportunity to photograph in the past 6 weeks, this is my favorite. It was also the most difficult to capture. At mid to high tide, the only way to access this location is to outrun waves crashing against the cliff face. That, and a funneling ice wind, definitely made things memorable.
